Out with the Old, In with the New

Hey guys,

Something sad happened, my last long-standing blog, formerly madenoted.blogspot.com, was deleted! Oh Noooo, but auh, it's okay. I got to admit I'm sad, I mean, I had some posts on that blog about two years old, and now it's all gone. I really did invest a lot of time, thought, and feeling in my last blog. I could ask Blogger more about it (it was probably a huge mistake), I thought about doing that, maybe they could recover it, but I've decided....maybe it's for the best that it's gone. Now I have the opportunity to have this new blog. I mean, hey, I did turn 20 recently right? So, I guess it's kind-of fitting. I'll eventually customize this blog's layout like I did mine last time, soon.

It reminds me of that old saying "What you spend your entire life to build could be brought down in one day. Build anyway".

I'm sure this new blog will be filled with new adventures, thoughts, and memories, just like the old one was. So it's okay. :)

Anyways, on another note, an update and some substance to blog about, yes yes.

I'm currently attending school this summer, taking two classes: math and humanities. Possibly the two most different classes to take together, ever. I'm taking them both at ARC, and I take the classes from 7:30am-12:30pm, so I've been waking up at around 5:30-6am everyday, eeeh. I've been getting used to it, the commute is definitely bittersweet (I get to listen to my music but spend more on gas), and it's been pretty good so far My days are definitely a lot longer. It's totally a completely different summer experience from past summers, where I'd stay up so late, and wake up in the mid afternoon; now, I definitely sleep before midnight, see the sunrise mostly everyday and take naps in the afternoon. :)

I'm writing this in my school's library right now, a typical place to find me this summer in the afternoon. I love love love how there's aircon ("a/c") here AND quiet, THE formula for studying, or relaxing ;). It's getting so hot in Sacramento these days, but I admit I love it, definitely reminds me that it's time for the State Fair coming soon, too. SUMMER!

Earlier I talked about how math and humanities are two way different classes, and generally speaking, they really are. Generally speaking, in my mind, math/science and humanities/liberal arts are two fundamentally different disciplines, the former focused objective thinking and the latter focused on subjective thinking.

I've come to the conclusion that BOTH disciplines are necessary! I'm so happy about this conclusion, and I really want to share this with you! Personally, I'd like to think of myself as more a science guy than a humanities/liberal arts guy, but recently, I have to admit, as much as how truly awesome science is in revealing how the universe is, it's so, dare I say it, bland when I devoid that experience of the "understanding of the human experience", as my literature professor would probably say.

Both disciplines are necessary to try and understand in order to, I think, be, for lack of a better word, humanly conscious. I'm starting to think that venturing into just one general discipline, is unfortunately inadequate use of life and it's richness. I understand that that task, of being competent in both general disciplines, is huge... And surely, we all have different talents and vocations that prompt us to specialize and rightly devote most if not all our efforts into one specific discipline, but...

I have experienced the joy of briefly, very briefly glancing at the tip of both icebergs, and I can say that doing so is one way of making me feel alive. If that makes any sense.

Yours,
Aaron
